Drone
Surveys.

Not that we want to drone on…get it?! OK fair enough.

Drones have been getting a bad rep recently, and some might say quite right too; however in the hands of professionals who adhere to the current guidelines & regulations, they are a valuable tool to assist in the assessment of your properties.

Roof Inspections

Hiring a cherry picker or having to erect scaffolding to carry out a roof inspection can be a very time consuming, expensive and potentially dangerous operation.

Using an UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) we can assist in making roof inspections:

  • Safe
  • Quick
  • Efficient
  • Economical

In a recent instruction we were able to use a drone to visually inspect over 20,000sqm of roofs of 15 different buildings in one (long!) day. Giving our client both HD video and photos showing the current state of their roofs.

We were also able to target specific areas of roofs where suspected leaks were located. This evidence allowed their roofing contractor to provide a more accurate quote and timings for the necessary repairs.

Aerial Surveys

One of the most challenging things to do as a surveyor is provide our clients with accurate roof plans or very large parcels of land. This mainly to do with restrictive sight-lines and unsafe access. So in many cases, our clients opt for Indicative Roof Plans or the current OS map; which does suit many purposes. However if an accurate survey is what you need, then we can organise this by using a laser scanner equipped UAV. This gives us the ability to accurately and quickly scan the required area/building, which produces a 3D point cloud.

2D drawings or 3D models can then be created and passed onto your architect or contractors. The point cloud also gives you the ability to view the scans from any location scanned in full colour using a free online point cloud viewer, enabling all interested parties the ability to see what’s, what.

Please contact us with your requirements and we’ll advise you of the costs and timescales.

Please note that there are some location restrictions in force for drone operation, including built up areas, Her Majesty’s back garden and airports, like err…. Gatwick! So location information is vital in providing you with a quote.
